At Backcountry Guide Co., we focus on great fishing, friendly service, and making your trip easy and enjoyable. Whether you’re here for walleye, crappie, lake trout, or just a day on the ice, we want you to have a great experience.
We offer three winter trip options:
All-Inclusive: Includes rods, electronics, meals, fish cleaning, and everything you need for a comfortable day on the ice.
Essential: Includes the basic guided fishing experience. Some equipment and services are not included.
Bring Your Own Sled: Bring your own sled and use your own equipment while we provide local knowledge, ice updates, safe routes, and guided support.
We also help with fish cleaning, vacuum sealing, and finding the right lodging for your trip.

Open-water season brings an entirely different experience, with guided trips on both the Minnesota and Canadian sides of Lake of the Woods (where licensing allows). These trips use new Ranger boats, quality electronics, and gear matched to the species we’re targeting.
We offer stand-alone snowmobile rentals for guests wanting to explore the area on their own. All machines are new or very current, well-maintained, and include a safety briefing and route suggestions based on local conditions.
